Discussion begins at 5:14. Here is the method that worked for Steve within hours after the live stream was done.
1. Remove all Extensions from Chrome. Once that's done, navigate to Settings, Privacy and Security, Site Settings, Notifications, remove any "Customized behaviors".
2. Then navigate to Search Engine, select "Manage search engines and site search", remove anything suspicious or featuring the Yahoo! logo from under the 'Site search' and 'Shortcuts' sections (you will likely see one that says "search-redir") and also just for good measure remove Yahoo from the search engines list.
3. This will get rid of the browser redirect on your device.
4. You will need to do this for ALL devices you have synced with your Google profile, otherwise upon the next sync, your preferences will be reloaded and you'll have to do it again.
