This is a reading of the short story "Soliloquy On A Park Bench" by Conrad Aiken, from the June 1922 issue of "The Dial" magazine.
Conrad Aiken was an American writer and poet, who won a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award, and was United States Poet Laureate from 1950 to 1952. He is probably the most unappreciated poets of the 20th century; his poetry is brilliant, cosmically beautiful, and deeply psychological; full of many vivid symbols and concepts. He was a contemporary of T. S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, and Malcolm Lowry but he is sadly forgotten about today. His daughters are probably more well known than he is. He was the father of British writer Jane Aiken Hodge and the very well-known British children and horror writer Joan Aiken MBE.
