Soil nails reinforce natural or excavated slopes by increasing their stability. H-shaped steel beams (piles) are drilled into place. Metal rods are inserted into pre-drilled holes and then grouted into place. A reinforced shotcrete facing is sprayed over the exposed soil to provide temporary stability and protection.
