8-Bit Show And Tell | Software on Cassette Tape in USA and Canada - Apple, TRS-80, Atari, PET to Commodore 64 @8_Bit | Uploaded March 2021 | Updated October 2024, 12 hours ago.
It seems to be increasingly forgotten that the compact cassette wasn't just used with personal computers in the UK, but was an integral part of the USA (and Canadian) experience for many up until the mid-1980s before disk became the data storage format of choice. Today we look through my collection of North American-released software on tape, and the computers that use it, from the 1977 trinity of TRS-80, Apple II and Commodore PET, through to the Commodore 64, Coleco ADAM and Tomy Tutor.
