We often hear claims that scientists are "shocked" by the discovery of soft tissues and collagen in dinosaur bones. But is this really a new revelation? In this video, I take you back to a 1966 Nature paper that reported the presence of collagen fibrils, cells, and blood vessels in fossilized dinosaur bones—decades before recent high-profile studies.
This is a clip from a longer upcoming video in which I discuss a recently published paper by several young-earth creationists which reports the discovery of collagen in an Edmontosaurus. In this clip I discuss why many scientists outside paleontology might be surprised when they hear about these findings for the first time.
