"Soft thumbs" — the eighth note trick that turns plain quarter note worship chords into something that actually flows.

Most praise and worship piano players hold down quarter note chords and stop there, and honestly that works — the guitar and drums are carrying the rhythm. But when you want to add motion without adding notes, this is the move: play the THUMB of either hand on the eighth notes in between the chords. Just the thumb. Nothing else changes.
The catch, and the reason most people give up on it, is touch. Play those thumbs at the same volume as the chord and it turns into a jackhammer — you can hear me demonstrate exactly that in this clip, then hear the same bar played soft. Same notes, completely different feel. That contrast is the whole lesson.
