Today I have a tutorial on some ways to use soft pastels in mixed media work. Soft pastels are hands down one of my first, favourite art supplies for working in my art journal – they are affordable and surprisingly versatile. I am always finding new, fun ways to use them in my pages.

In this video I show how to use soft pastels with stencils, dry and wet, for mark making, as a water soluble, in a faux gelli plate print, and as a messy, abstract portrait. Then I pull the techniques together and use them in an art journal layout so you can see the techniques in action. #softpastel
