a tool-assisted speedrun is like a speedrun, but its done so by rerecording, editing, save-stating, and frame advancing a playthrough of a game. more information can be seen in tasvideos.org
sonic hacking contest entries mean that an entry gets successfully entered into the website. this hack was made by bagumba, and the release date was set to be in 4th october 2015
heres some differences about this hack:
- sonic can now spindash & super-peel out
- five acts get new level designs
- theres new music in each level
- it crashes on mobile phones when ristars go ahead theme is at the four second mark unless you have RetroArch
- after Carbon Chaos Act 3, everything goes back to normal
- special stages have time limits
- sonic cds balance sprites replace sonics current balancing sprites
i improved on the previous run by under 30 seconds thanks to spindashes and crafty techniques to save some seconds.
this sonic rom hack is pretty intriguing and alluring, by the way. give it a try and see if you can beat my time!
