Social Distortion, a punk rock band from Fullerton, California, formed in 1978 emerging from the Orange County hardcore scene. Since its inception, the lineup has seen great changes, with Ness, singer and guitarist, as the only permanent member. Born to Kill, their eighth album, released fifteen years after their previous one, had a long and difficult genesis. Pre-production of the album was announced for 2023, but Mike Ness was halted by a serious illness. Now, having overcome these problems, they have released the album, which includes the participation of Lucinda Williams and a cover of Chris Isaak's hit "Wicked Game." Starting with the title track, which Social have been performing live for years, the album is full of references to the band's nearly fifty-year history, which began on the streets of their hometown, and Ness, at sixty-four, still growls with strength and passion.
