The Maryland State Fair opens for its first big weekend on Thursday. Before the fair's opening, SKY 11 flew over the fairgrounds in Timonium, where the setup was well underway. This year's dates are Aug. 27-30 and Sept. 3-7 and 10-13. The new format of the fair over the last few years will continue with three weekends of fun, Friday through Sunday for the first weekend, Thursday through Monday for Labor Day weekend, and Thursday through Sunday the third weekend.
