It's extremely rare that you play something that dramatically shifts your understanding of everything within a series. That was Metal Gear Solid 1 for me. Granted, I played the series out of order, but Metal Gear Solid 1 changed so much that I no longer understood what I liked about Metal Gear Solid 2. Originally, it was my favorite in the series. However, can it still be that? Do the twists and turns hit harder with this context? Do they add more? Simply put, this was a whole new game for me. With Metal Gear Solid 1 under my belt, it's time to see what the sequel is truly capable of delivering!
