We take a drive through heavy snow to rescue a Dell Dimension 5100.
With a Pentium 4 HT 630, it has potential but needs lots of work.
In this episode we take a drive to the north of Gothenburg, Sweden to pickup a Dell Dimension 5100 PC.
A couple other Dells get pulled in along the way as it turns out I cannot resist the allure of these P4 era Dells when offered them.
This particular Dimension needs a fair bit done to it.
It’s missing the Northbridge heatsink, has no HDD, no GPU, no OS and no case fan. In these dells, missing the case fan is quite
an inconvenience due to their proprietary fan connector.) However as you’ll see in the video, this was no match for WilleWD’s tinkering skills.
This episode is more loosely edited and shot with my phone under a new series called “GHG Shorts." A bit of a test to see if we can make a video that is benchmark based and more about the story of just picking up an old PC.
As usual I tried to make and release this one quickly but then my inner perfectionist took over and I tinkered with the edit for ages. However let us know your thoughts and if you want to see more of these vlog-style episodes.
