Michael's got a sneaky trick for all of your text to sand, text to dust, text to snow, logo into smoke, or even person disintegrating like in Avengers Infinity War. Since Trapcode Particular Layer Emitters emit particles from the whole layer, this little tutorial shows a good tip for making it much more efficient.

Here's the expression Michael is using:
value - [comp("Comp 1").layer("Text to be snowed").transform.position[0]-960,0]

The key is that Comp 1 is your main comp and you're saying "whenever this comp is moved in that main comp, move the layer the other way in the precomp" so it only shows the strip you want particles to emit from.
