alternate title: I joined an AMV IC while I had covid and lost.
sooo Crows IC 2023: Ragnarök happened. I was very sick with covid and one night couldnt sleep due to a 102°F fever so I did this in a couple hours (I think 3? 4? idk man but I did fall asleep while it was rendering).
I did not place well (25th of 27 entries) but honestly I never compete for placement anyway, Im just here to have fun! ^^ Being able to just lay on the couch and do something while sick was nice, I really dislike not being able to do anything, even though I shouldve been taking it easy.

[Back at it again with the long descriptions, sorry. I ramble when Im nervous.]
Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing okay ♥ After thinking about it, these lyrics hit a bit hard at times like we’re going through right now. Someday you’ll be able to go out and meet with your loved ones again, but for now we have to be strong for the safety of everyone. Many horrible things have happened, but I truly believe the future is brighter.
I know I am very bad at telling stories through just visuals, so I will add my original story I wrote out back in May. I hope I can improve though so that I don’t have to do this in the future. I enjoy writing fics (I may even turn this into one haha!) but lack a lot of skill on the editing approach of original/alternate universe storylines. If anyone has any advice about the topic, I’d love some if you have the time to spare or if you wish to critique this! Especially since I want to extend this into a full AU AMV at some point.
My original script/idea:
➳ Seiya and Minato are childhood friends. Minato receives a terrible head injury resulting in retrograde amnesia from a car accident. Out of over-protection and horror over almost losing their son, his family moved once he was able to be released from the hospital and haven’t allowed him outside much. He doesn’t return to public school until high school, and he happens to enroll in the same school as Seiya. Minato joins the kyudo club, and Seiya recognizes him but knows he doesn’t know who he is. Seiya has been struggling with this but has refused to let anyone know, and has preferred being alone until now. Minato and Seiya start practicing kyudo together before and after club - Seiya happily teaches him and still remembers how Minato loved kyudo as a kid. Minato has brief flickers of past memories, but nothing major. They quickly become close again. One day Minato discovers his folder of health files while in his room, and a photo of a young Seiya with him makes him realize Seiya was his first friend, and he’s distraught that he’d forgotten him (and a bit sad/mad that Seiya hadn’t mentioned it). On Seiya’s side, he’s afraid of mentioning knowing Minato previously and debating on if/when he should. Minato goes off to bike on the mountain roads he likes, upset at everyone and himself. He knew he had a serious injury, but not knowing he’d known Seiya when they were young hurt him, and he wishes someone would’ve said something. Seiya’s dog grabs Minato’s attention when he’s on his way home, and Seiya goes out to talk with Minato. They have an argument, Minato mostly being upset with himself and apologizing for not remembering Seiya. Seiya answers that it doesn’t matter- he could’ve said something so he’s the one at fault, and he’s glad they were able to meet again; whether Minato has his memories or not. In the end, Minato never regains his childhood memories, but that’s okay because he and Seiya can make new ones now.
[This can be seen/read as romantic or platonic. I intended for romance when initially writing, but I also enjoy their friendship and think it is a very precious and important relationship. It’s up to you!]
As for this contest, I am very happy I was able to finish this, even if it’s not exactly what I had in mind. It is only 9 hours of work, and I wish I had been able to spend more time on it. That’s okay though, I still had a ton of fun working on this and trying to create it. Once I have more time and am a bit more comfortable with other programs for effects I want to try, I will extend it.
I think something may have been against me creating an entry haha! I had a SSD malfunction in July and lost my original project, and became very discouraged. Then my state had a bad storm come through and we had massive power outages. Luckily my home has a generator, but it’s not really the ideal environment for intense editing. The project I had restarted was corrupted during that time as well, so I again was left with nothing and didn’t plan on entering. My inspiration was reignited after watching the music video for this song two days ago, I had completely forgotten everything (except for that scene of Hyungwon crying in the hospital, that part still makes me hurt watching or thinking about it). Anyhow, it was a bit funny really; I haven’t seen it since it was released on YT last October, but the coincidence of it having a car accident and lost friend revived my want to create my own story of Minato and Seiya.
