I collect the star in "Hidden Palace Finale" using 8 a presses. This is an improvement of the previous video which collected this star using 9 a presses. You can find that video here: youtu.be/VUDo7a3K-2k
The improvement comes from it being possible to get onto the pipe using a misalignment, and actually using only a sideflip (with a glitchy wallkick) to get to the top, saving 1 a press!
The a presses are as follows:
#1-#3: To get to the balcony
#4-#6: To get to the pipe
#7-#8: To get to the top of the level

I figured out by complete accident that the supposed wall right behind the spawn is actually walkable. This is where 4 A presses were shaved off from Maplestrips 9x A presses video on this same star. Unfortunately i didnt manage to find a way to get all the way over to the edge without jumping, but maybe it is possible. The problem was that there is an invisible wall at the very top which stops you from progressing. As of the other A-presses, i believe you can probably take them all away, as there are three fly-guys. Manipulating these in some crazy manner might make it possible to reach all the piranha plants A-press less.

So this route is quite interesting, to get to the bob-omb buddy we use the crazy box situated on the complete opposite side of the course. We swim through the water holding the box, which is why there is the 0.5x press. Then we use the crazy box bounce to reach the platform with the bob-omb buddy. The other A-presses in this are not easy to save. You would think that you could use the owl to save 2.5 A presses, however, it is worth noting that the owl doesnt exist until the last star.

Now this one Ive just uploaded to show the 1x version of this star. I am currently devising a strategy to collect this star in 0x, but I havent managed to pull that off quite yet, but it will turn up eventually, once I figure out how to do some stuff.
