Recommended to watch in HQ or full screen. This run was part of the "Classic Games Done Quick" marathon by Speed Demos Archive that took place on January 1-3, 2010. Over $10,000 was raised for CARE, an organization dedicated to fighting poverty. Thank you to everyone who donated and watched any part of the marathon!
This SMRPG run has pretty conservative strategies to assure that I don't Game Over unintentionally but also abuses death for extra leveling with the Land's End stars. I failed to get the Attack Scarf in this run (it was late and I was tried, bleh). Overall, I'd say the run was decent considering the strategies, but I have since had SS runs that have finished the game in under 4 hours so it's not that impressive in comparison.
Also, a timing note: even though the person timing at the end of the run says it was 4:38, the timer started when the game's opening intro movie started and that takes over a minute. Therefore, I determined the correct time to be 4:37:xx.

New WR as of 4/11/2013. This was essentially a proof of concept run for a new route that includes a major sequence break to reach the Mine of Judgment extremely early. I realize there are many improvements to make, but I just wanted to finish one run on this route before worrying about super picky optimizations.
