I had purposely waited and made sure that as I cross the white line, the light was green.

This is outside of Stepney Green Station. The car turned from a light controlled side road. However, that road only allows for turning left onto the Main road. So basically, the Merc had to turn left onto the Main road, then turn right onto the side road to my left. Two separate manoeuvres.

This shows that the light was green as I passed the white line.
