this is Sludge! he’s part of a sort of original species but i don’t really have a name for it just yet, you can suggest some species names in the comments if you’d like though :P

Sludge’s ability to transform isn’t really well executed well in the ref sheet, but basically he can be any shape he wants, including having actual fur and being soft or being a smooth surface, BUT he’s still drippy and has to have the same mass. his molecules only get closer together when he makes a smaller shape and farther apart for a larger shape. the cat form you see on the ref is his default form, the one he was born with. since he can be any shape he wants, he can also transform into lethal weapons (not that he would) and that’s what makes him a safety hazard in public. the choker, (or the scientific term, restrictor) makes his transforming ability very VERY limited so he can only really be his default shape, it’s illegal for his species to go in public areas without it on, they will be immediately arrested and/or killed. i’m not sure how else i would describe things without it being too long so i’m gonna put a quick q&a:

Q: can he die and how?
A: he isn’t immortal, he can burn or freeze to death, starve, drown, be stabbed/impaled, get sick and other things like that.

Q: what happens to him in water?
A: you ever see what it looks like to pour food coloring in a cup of water? it’s like that, he still keeps his shape and mass, but it is just all floaty and he’s not really a fan of swimming cuz he can’t really move.

Q: what do the restrictor’s colors mean?
A: Green = active, Yellow = low battery/damaged/error/virus, Red: emergency alert/deactivated

Q: what colors are his mouth and does he have teeth?
A: if his mouth is in the green area it’s the shades of purple at the top & vice versa, he has short stubby teeth instead of fangs.

Q: how is he gender-fluid and male at once?
A: his default gender is male and that’s what he mainly identifies as, but his species’ transform ability lets them be able to change to the form of the other gender, qualifying them as gender fluid.

Q: why no music or speedpaint?
A: 1. i was lazy. 2. this was in a livestream so i couldn’t record a speedpaint and again, too lazy to use the playback version.
