Crews are rehabilitating a major section of the Potomac Interceptor along Clara Barton Parkway using a process called slip-lining. This involves installing a new pipe inside the existing one to strengthen the system and protect a pipeline that has been in service since 1963.
The Potomac Interceptor is one of the region’s largest and most important sewer lines. It carries wastewater from the Dulles corridor to DC Water’s Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant and supports millions across the region.
