In this Slime Self-Sealing Bike Tubes Review, I share my experience with these self-sealing tubes.
If you're wondering, "Do Slime Self-Sealing Tubes Work?" the answer is yes. Slime says one of their self-sealing bike tubes should be effective against flats for about 2 years. That being said, I'm sure there are some types of tube punctures that Slime won't be effective against, but my experience with these tubes has been great.
Why did I decide to try these Slime self-sealing tubes?
We live in an area where there are a lot of goat heads. Goat heads are these little prickly seeds that stick to your bike tires and puncture your tubes. You may be aware of them from getting flats in the area where you live. Well, we were getting so many flats from these goat heads that it was getting expensive to ride a bike. We were replacing and patching tubes frequently, and I was starting to feel like riding a bike wasn't worth having to deal with constant flats.
Thankfully, I decided to try replacing a flat tube with a Slime self-sealing tube. That ended up being a great choice because I haven't had a flat on any tube with Slime in it since. Now riding bikes is fun again, not having to deal with constant flat tires.
If you're wondering whether or not Slime is the best bike tube sealant, I can't say for sure. I have a bike with another brand of tube sealant that came in my tubes when I bought my new bike, and it seems to work great, just like the slime sealant.
I do love the convenience of the Slime tubes with the pre-installed tube sealant. It makes replacing your flat tubes easy because you don't have to put the slime in the tubes yourself.
