I first want to thank everyone at the Mario Superstar Baseball Club for the event coordination and software backend support for making the SLICE and SLICE Open tournaments possible - and to Gotta Gacha Arcade for the excellent venue. It was an honor to be chosen as the hosting channel for the bulk of SLICE Open gameplay.
Logistics were tricky with dozens of people playing hundreds of baseball and golf games in such a short time.
The Winners Round 1 games were played on the side early to kickstart the tournament in the hopes of minimizing scheduling conflicts with baseball matchups. With the uneven bracket, 3 higher-ranking players got byes into Round 2, including myself.
This match sees htcp and myself playing at Shifting Sands. My go-to for establishing tempo is Boo, who has incredible stats overall when you optimize the use of the shot trajectory and has some leniency for approaches. htcp was already having a hot start with his main Daisy, threatening to steal hole 2 with a UGIR and easy eagle, though I stole the steal to keep it even. Hole 14 was pretty funny as well. Poor guy couldn't catch a break. He's damn good.
