I first want to thank everyone at the Mario Superstar Baseball Club for the event coordination and software backend support for making the SLICE and SLICE Open tournaments possible - and to Gotta Gacha Arcade for the excellent venue. It was an honor to be chosen as the hosting channel for the bulk of SLICE Open gameplay.
Logistics were tricky with dozens of people playing hundreds of baseball and golf games in such a short time.
The Winners Round 1 games were played on the side early to kickstart the tournament in the hopes of minimizing scheduling conflicts with baseball matchups. With the uneven bracket, 3 higher-ranking players got byes into Round 2, including myself.
This match sees elijah facing BMills (respectively) at Shifting Sands - both as Waluigi. These choices naturally fit as good happy media, since Waluigi has chances for all four UGIRs if hole 2 cooperates and is executed perfectly. While elijah stayed even or ahead the whole time, BMills did nearly swing the match at one point, but couldn't hold on in the back 9. This sends elijah to face me in Round 3, and BMills to Losers Round 2.
