okay um hi. so this is a new oc. her name is nightshade, uh.
okay sorry for not uploading, school aaaa XD
so nightshade is one of the starter prototypes for the planned homeworld era 3 (in my universe at least, which takes place before season 5) and era 3 was supposed to be for all new kinds of gems never made before that have special abilities, made just to colonize or destroy planets, like an easier way to cause the death of Earth by literally making gems capable of destroying planets (though obviously they can’t be THAT strong to do it by themselves so they’d send out groups or teams if that makes any sense.) But nightshade in particular came out wrong, or off-color because, again, she is a prototype. (that’s why she looks all weird, dark and melty) the diamonds were like “welp let’s trash her” but they didn’t want to waste the materials they used so they just called her an onyx and went off to do other stuff.
having no real use on homeworld, nightshade took a pod which was aimed at earth where she met the crystal gems, which in my version include the main gems, plus a Malaya Garnet, Star Ruby, Lavender Jasper, and Pale Tourmaline (not an actual kind of tourmaline, but it is thing, btw) aka: Pailey.
from there, nightshade sort of keeps her distance from them all, but Pailey and Lavender, being the newest recruits, end up becoming her friends. over time, nightshade will learn about powers she has like steven did and at some point gets sad, then pailey’s like “no don’t be sad” and they bond over it and basically become best friends.
that’s all ima tell you about her story for now, because i want the actual part from the animation to be unknown, so YOU GUYS have to guess what’s going on. hehehehehe..

if y’all wanna guess the plot, you can. though, again, it’s still pretty straight forward. i spent a good few days working on this and i hope you guys can find SOME kind of entertainment value in there even if i did get a little lazy with the backgrounds at some points. (theory hint: the ending is really important! also please check out the other Vengeance AU animations i’ve made so you have a higher chance of guessing correctly!)
