Did you know there's a connection between sleep apnea and TMJ problems? 😴
When your body is in fight-or-flight mode due to sleep apnea, it responds by clenching and grinding your teeth. Grinding the jaw forward opens the airway. However, over time, this can lead to clicking or popping in the jaw joints and even chronic pain. 😖
These symptoms may just be the tip of the iceberg. That's why - based off of what I see on the CBCT scan - I sometimes recommend a sleep study for my patients!
