Slate Myers made history at Bowman Gray Stadium Saturday night when he picked up the win in the 2nd 25-lap feature, becoming the youngest winner in Bowman Gray Modified history at 17 years old.
Myers is a 4th generation racer at Bowman Gray, following winning tradition of his Great-Grandfather Billy(22 wins), his Grandfather Gary(38 wins) and his Dad Burt(102 wins), When you include his GreatGreat Uncle Bobby(16 wins) and his Uncle Jason, who won his 43rd race in the first 25-lap race of the night, the Myers' now have 222 wins at Bowman Gray.
Slate told me after the race he's still trying to wake up from this dream. He's been close to winning several times in the last year of racing.
"Last year we came close 3 or 4 times and just ran into problems, racing incidents," Slate Myers said. "Tonight they couldn't deny us though."
