My bargain price, £35, SkySurfer X8P (Bixler clone) had its very windy maiden. First 'just about flyable' day in a long time. And eventually I discovered my very simple, but stupid mistake, (but how come I didn't notice that?) And after a bit of trimming it was a very successful flight despite the conditions. Plus I have another thing to add to my pre-flight check list. It was the first time in 15 years plus that I'd ever made this silly mistake and looking at the video now it's very obvious what the problem was. In my defence I should point out that the first motor I'd fitted failed when testing and I'd had to do some surgery on the plane to install another, and it was a tricky job fitting it in. Hence I made a mistake. Anyway, didn't feel so bad at the field when a mate told me he'd taken off in range check mode and crashed. Mistakes happen!
