Skyscanner is the world's largest travel search engine, handling 35 million searches every day across flights, hotels and car hire. To stay traveler-first, Skyscanner processes 30 to 35 billion events daily and stores 15 to 20 petabytes of data, relying on the Databricks Platform to bring all the disparate parts together into a healthy, well-governed data ecosystem.
A medallion architecture built on Databricks processes 55 billion events into Cornerstone Data Products at the silver layer, giving teams across the business reliable, reusable data for multiple use cases. Unity Catalog keeps that data well governed and trustworthy, powering 180 million flight ranking predictions every day and giving Skyscanner the quality foundation it needs to accelerate machine learning models and move faster than competitors.
Looking ahead, Skyscanner is exploring Agent Bricks to build agents that suggest the next best way to engage travelers, at a time when more than half of people are already planning trips with generative AI.
