I am going to make a few videos about the topic of skin effect. In this first video i just describe the phenomena and discuss some of the its consequences. At the end of the video I explain how to model skin effect in COMSOL and how to obtain current density distribution across the conductor cross section. I also discuss how to calculate ac resistance directly from COMSOL or using the current density distribution.
In the next video i will discuss the physical and mathematical reasons, why this phenomena occurs and we are going to obtain analytical formula for current density distribution in a round wire.

On 22nd January Tianming has passed his Go-NO-GO evaluation. I had to review his work (which was on winding loss calculation) in detail and give my comments. I then decided to make a few videos and share some information about skin effect with other people.
