Melanie Madrigal, a graduate student in the LSU Department of Biological Sciences who works in Jordan A. Dowell's lab, has an odd lab “pet”: a fungus known as gray mold or Botrytis cinerea. She and team have created an image analysis tool to track the mold's growth in different conditions.
