Behold, for Airz has finally gotten to finishing his parts in the first half of Skeletal Shenanigans! Honestly I couldn't be happier with how well this level is turning out considering the pace we are keeping up, I'm not sure how much longer it'll take, but I'd estimate maybe 2 months considering we might take a short break. Anyway, what a fun start to 2025! This is the first true example of how my newly inspired work ethic for GD is playing out, and I must say its a whole lot more fulfilling than 2024's "I'll build when I feel like it." Not sure what changed that is enabling this, but I don't think its at all fleeting like most motivation bursts are.
So, Skeletal Shenanigans, the original was a short level swap with Airz from a couple years ago that was fairly fun to make. We had considered turning both PVC Pipe and Skeletal Shenanigans into full projects, but that quickly fell through. Then, in late December, I came across Waterflame, Boom Kitty, and Teminite's brand new song 'Slash Inferno' and I immediately saw a brand new vision for Skeletal Shenanigans. I ran it by Airz and we quickly agreed to collab on a completely new version. The vision I had in that moment is almost exactly what you see in this video; not only has very little changed conceptually, but even more surprisingly, my execution is actually living up to my ideas with these animations. You'll see even more of this from the boss onward, but I am overjoyed at my newfound ability to use keyframes for an especially smooth look to animating in GD. The skeletons provide the literal perfect catalyst for this, I mean, they are literally the definition of a humanoid rig, easy to manipulate and transform without the consequence of joints and such (with the small exception of the wizard with the robes).
I have so much planned this year, and with my apparent newfound ability to materialize motivation out of the ether, I am confident I will truly be happy with myself in what I accomplish
