🚨 Rider Report: Lucas in Japan & Utah 🇯🇵✈️🇺🇸🛹
From exploring mountain roads in Japan to racing at the World Downhill Skate Championships in Utah, Lucas’s season was one for the books. Here’s what he had to say:
🌎 Where did you go?
I took a dream skate trip to Japan! A couple of homies and I had the chance to go explore some uncharted roads in the mountains. We met a bunch of the skaters from Japan, and shoutout to Rintaro and Kairi for helping us out and introducing us to the whole squad. After Japan, I packed up all my bags and headed straight to the World Downhill Skate Championships in Park City, Utah.
😎 Qualified 7th? Nice!
I qualified a lot better than I expected. The track was a perfect mix, not too technical, but also had some interesting features, so it was great for correcting lines and putting it all together.
💪 How did you prepare for the race?
Japan helped! We did a bunch of laps on some world class roads. It definitely put me in a confident and relaxed mindset for the riding in Utah.
😨 What was the most challenging section or corner?
The first combination slide was difficult to get right. It took a lot of patience and smooth riding to perfect it. That goes for the last two corners as well, a long fast left into a tight right hairpin. It was very easy to come in with a little too much pep and blow the line in the right.
👬 How was it riding with your Landyachtz teammates?
I was finally able to meet a couple of the teammates I hadn’t yet. It was electric taking runs with Oscar, and having Dex to talk and delve more into the race oriented questions was a great resource to have.
✈️ Hitting any more races soon?
I’m planning on going to the last race of the World Downhill Skate Championship coming up in December. It looks like a road much like the ones we have in North Carolina. Steep with “Waterfall” style corners.
