Another familiar song for most of you. I originally created this tune in December 2017 when I realized that I hadn't made an original song on the PC Engine at the time. Still wanting to get in the Christmas spirit, I decided to pick an icy theme for this song, and is my first song with the name of "Something Something Cavern." It was also one of my very first PC Engine tunes to use completely custom waveforms (up until that point, I had been relying on waveforms ripped by Michirin from various PC Engine games as I had agreed with her observation of the PCE being treated like an NES on steroids at the time by most other folks), all hand-drawn. Like most of my original work from before 2019, I placed this song in the back-burner in July 2018. Two months later, I revisited this tune on the SNES using SNESMOD, and changed a few aspects of its composition. The changes were later applied to the original PCE and the Master System version in June 2019. These three songs were later uploaded my second channel in June 2021. This 2024 edit was only going to be a percussion swap (using the PCE drums I have been using since 2020), but then, I decided to change the waveform of the bell and bass instruments, and then next thing that happened was that I decided to use Furnace's wavetable synthesizer to spice up the bass and lead instruments a bit, thus leading to this version being done. I did make a few mixing optimizations as the changes I made ended up making the leads overpower the bass a bit. Of all my tunes from before 2019 that I decided to edit, this one has had the most drastic changes, but the compositional changes I made to this song back in September 2018 remain intact.
Additionally, while I did swap the channels around to reflect my current channel setup, this song was done before I even had such a channel setup (percussion and bass in the earliest channels, then leads, then chords, then backings or echoes), so you'll see moments where the instruments change between different channels.
