Time to finish off the repair of the Hardinge Sjogren 5CX model collet cuck. The threads in the center gear that pull the collet were worn out. In the previous video the threaded section was bored out and replaced with a stainless steel insert. Now we will bore the OD to size and tread it.
The 5-C collet uses a 1.238 x 20 tpi RH thread. The hole diameter needed to cut this thread is 1.188 in.
Parts and new chucks are available from ATS Systems, used to be called ATS Workholding. Check under products/workholding/pullback chucks if you are interested.
