Sitio Arqueológico El Mogote es situada en la playa del pueblo de Colán por la provincia de Paita ubicada en el departamento de Piura en el Norte del Perú . Un área de 4.84 hectáreas. que consisten un montículo de arena artificial o pirámide moche que fue construido y utilizado como área ceremonial en tiempos precolombinos por la cultura Moche. El sitio conserva poca semejanza con lo que tendría en el pasado, sin embargo, el lugar está plagado de innumerables fragmentos de cerámica y restos humanos y animales. Desafortunadamente, el sitio ha sido casi destruido en años después por culpa de clima extremo y los ladrones de tumbas, también debe tenerse en cuenta que el sitio está hoy extremadamente lleno de basura moderna y recientemente ha sido invadido por ventas y ocupaciones ilegales de tierras.

El Mogote Archaeological Site is located on the beach of the town of Colán in the province of Paita located in the department of Piura in northern Peru. An area of 4.84 hectares. They consist of an artificial sand mound or Moche pyramid that was built and used as a ceremonial area in pre-Columbian times by the Moche culture. The site retains little resemblance to what it would have in the past, yet the site is littered with countless pottery shards and human and animal remains. Unfortunately the site has been nearly destroyed in years after due to extreme weather and grave robbers, it should also be noted that the site is today extremely full of modern trash and has recently been invaded by illegal land sales and occupations.
