On the trumpet, you will always find your most resonant tone at the âbottom end of the pitchâ on each note.Itâs the point where you get the most sound output for the least amount of input. Adam sometimes refers to this as âsit fat and happy on every noteâ.
On most mouthpieces youâll get flatter and flatter the higher you play. Under those circumstances, you canât really âsit fat and happyâ on the bottom end of the pitch of each note, because youâll be terribly flat.On those mouthpieces, in order to play in tune in the upper register, you have no choice but to bend the notes up. This takes more physical effort and also produces a lesser tone.One of the main design features of LOTUS mouthpieces is this: the intonation targets are set so you can sit on the bottom part of each note, with your biggest and most resonant tone, throughout your entire range.Minimum effort - Maximum output.Credit to Dylan Vessel for the playing example!
