Bens Workshop | Single Phase Induction Motor testing and wiring, Crompton Parkinson @BensWorkshop | Uploaded September 2021 | Updated October 2024, 3 days ago.
I bought this Crompton Parkinson 180 Watt (approximately 1/4 HP) single phase induction motor for an upcoming project. Here I get it wired up and running.
Crompton Parkinson was formed by merger in 1927 and later in the 1970s I believe, merged again to form Brook Crompton. The power rating in Watts rather than horse power suggests a later motor.
0:00 Introduction
1:24 Testing internal wiring
3:05 Wiring up motor
13:20 Fitting mains plug
18:50 Checking earth continuity
19:25 Oiling bearings
20:00 Starting motor
22:38 Testing speed
25:45 Conclusion
