Singing Wells Top 20: #14 Rediscovering the Royal Entenga Drums
These drums hadn't been played in over 50 years!
The Royal Entenga Drums were destroyed when the Royal Palace was set on fire in 1966. It was thought that none of the original players lived.
But Professor James Isabirye found Musisi, who played the Royal drums as a young boy, and they joined together to bring the Royal Entenga Drums back to life. This rediscovery is what Singing wells is all about - we were so thrilled to be a part of it!
