Amos Yee Convicted in Singapore
Singapore convicted video blogger Amos Yee on Tuesday for uploading an obscene content. Prosecutors called for probation and counseling, saying the teen needs reformative training. Phil Robertson, Deputy Director, Asia Division, Human Rights Watch comments on the ruling.
North Korean Intel Chief Killed
The big news on the Korean peninsula Wednesday came from a briefing by South Korea's National Intelligence Service. The NIS announced the DPRK had executed the Minister of the Peoples’ Armed Forces, Hyon Yong Chol using an anti-aircraft gun.
Australia cuts foreign aid to focus on domestic defense
According to the new annual budget, Australia will cut its foreign aid contributions while at the same time increase counter-terrorism spending. Federal Treasurer Joe Hockey said Tuesday his financial blueprint would make the country “stronger, safer and more prosperous.”
