The Knob Lick Upper 10,000 was a bluegrass trio that got together in 1963. It consisted of banjo player Erik Jacobson, lead singer Carl Story and Peter Childs, who played guitar, banjo, autoharp and dobro.

The name of the group came from Knob Lick, a small town in Kentucky and "Upper 10,000" is a literal translation of a German word meaning "upper crust" or "gentry."
