There won't be any more new uploads to my YouTube channel after today.
YouTube has become too big and too "corporate" for my taste.
I never wanted to make any money off of my YouTube videos and since I am allergic for ads interrupting music and videos, I never opted to have any ads on my videos.
As you may have noticed, YouTube has made a change that gives them the possibility to place ads on any channels, even when they are not monetized. When I saw the first ads appear on my latest video, it irked me.
YouTube made $ 15 Billion last year, but now they are also placing ads on non-monetized channels. They are making money off of it and you don't. When is enough, enough...?
After the subscriber hick-ups, the rising number of sub for sub requests from PewdeePew wannabe's and now the ads that I didn't want, were the last straw for me.
Yeah, it's their platform and their rules, but since I don't want to play by their rules..
All I cared about was getting my music and sometimes a message out into the world to people who were interested . It's always been about quality, not quantity. I'm grateful for all the great friends and talented people I've met here.
I am not leaving YouTube as a viewer. All my content will still be there and I will certainly visit your channels.
Instead of uploading new content there, I will start to use Vimeo instead.
It's a smaller set-up than YouTube with a more adult audience. And since it is a paid plan, there will never be any ads, even if I wanted too :-)
