Sina Bathaie @SinaBathaie performs a mesmerizing set of progressive Persian house music at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. This was the opening night of an extensive worldwide tour for the Iranian Canadian artist. The White Lotus tour started in his home of Toronto and wraps up six months later in Bengaluru, India. During the show, Bathaie tells the audience there is one place he wants to play most, "a free Iran." He goes on to say: "People of Iran have been fighting for freedom for a long time, for basic human rights, to be able to live freely … and I'd like to dedicate my next song to the beautiful people of Iran and for free Iran."
The sonic journey continues through songs titled Vahlhalla, Anatoliya and Dawn of Hope, and crescendos cathartically with the song Thunder. The enthusiastic audience members clap and dance in what feels like the gathering of a utopic community. Watch this on repeat.
