Simple Things is out!
It's a song I wrote in 2015, when I was in a pretty weird period of transition after having finished my studies, trying to find my way earning my living as a musician.
It's about enjoying the most simple things in life, in contrast with always searching for more and more, to experiment the deepest sensations and to realise our craziest dreams, which can lead to frustration, sensations of emptiness and never-ending insatisfaction.
Earnest and truest joys actually find themselves in the simplest things we live every day. Eating good stuff, sharing laughs with friends, enjoying the beauty of nature, taking a walk, sitting in the sun, playing or listening to music, exchanging a quick smile with a stranger... These things seem so common but yet are the consistent gifts we can appreciate.
This song still deeply resonates today as I often go through periods where I struggle with expectations and desires, and is a calling to refocus on the beauty of our lives with gratitude.
As you'll notice, it's a simple folky song. I've been composing songs since I'm 16 and I'd now like to give them a real place in my professional experience. I have many songs, between pop/folk and prog/rock I'd like to produce and release, and this one symbolically opens up the path.
I'm currently working on some singles to produce and release, with different people, to gain experience and figure out with which people the alchemy happens. Two albums are awaiting already, but as I'm very meticulous with how I'd like them to sound, I want to make sure I meet the right people to work with.
A home-made version of Simple Things was released on my soundcloud back in 2015. To get it "officially" released, I re-recorded the voices in studio conditions and had it mixed by my friend Quentin, which I thank very much. The guitar you hear is the original part I home-recorded. If you'd like to hear the home-made version and see the difference, I've just re-uploaded it on my bandcamp, with slight mixing adjustments.
I very much hope you'll enjoy listening to this song!

![Dont look back - Rick and Morty Drum/voice cover
[Headphones please :D]
Some months ago, while watching Rick and Morty, I stumbled across this song that I found very sweet and airy. I put it on my fav song playlist right away, and eventually decided to arrange it into a drum-voice cover.
I was just finishing Eckhart Tolles The Power of Now, and oddly enough, the lyrics were matching the teachings of this book, which was naturally influencing my mood while trying to inject these teachings into my living experience.
I realized that the past is only memories, meaning very limited elements of our experience, that we rely on to build the story/reality of our own character.
We love to constantly tell ourselves stories. We will more or less consciously choose some memories to the detriment of other memories, to build a specific story and make its walls so solid that we sometimes lock ourselves into it. Yet, between what really happened from the larger perspective, and what we retain from it as a reality through our perception and interpretation, the gap is huge. Memories are just a tiny capture of a perspective and sensation we had of a moment that doesnt exist any more.
We create a voice from these memories (talking about the unpleasant ones), that will be here, constantly reminding us of these past events with guilt, shame or other nice feelings. And this will bleed onto our behaviours and feelings in the present, while this belongs to a version of us that is long gone.
Time to become conscious of this obsolete mental voice and replace it with our own, watchful loving one, and become ourselves without limitations.
~
I know you tried, I know you tried your best
And now its time to put this all to rest
Minutes pass and those days seem long ago
A distant voice, one that I used to know
Theres a voice and its trying to drag me down, down
If you go then Im going with you now
Dont look back, nothing left to see
Just leave the shadows in the past
If I let it go, can I shake this feeling?
Just like that, tomorrows one day that Im never getting back
I can feel you though, wake me from this dreaming
Flip the switch, youre keeping me in the dark
My visions clear, I see you left a mark
Im the voice and I wont let you drag me down, down
If you go, Im not going with you now
Dont look back, nothing left to see
Just leave the shadows in the past
If I let it go, can I shake this feeling?
Just like that, tomorrows one day that Im never getting back
I can feel you though, wake me from this dreaming
Wake me from this dreaming
