This video uses the masses and springs simulations from PhET Interactive Simulation to investigate how changing the amplitude, mass, gravitational acceleration and spring constant effects the period of a mass oscillating on a spring.
When a mass on a spring is displaced from its equilibrium position and released the restoring force will causes it to oscillate about the equilibrium position. The time for the mass to complete one complete cycle is called the period. The frequency of oscillation is the number of cycles the mass completes in one second.
