Remember the delight you could get from a piece of card and a bit of string?
Recreate the simple pleasure with some thick card, coloured paper pieces and a length of string. Allow your children to decorate them as they desire; perhaps helping them choose their colours so they blend together when the disc is spinning.
Trim to a circle, or leave points of paper at the edge for a satisfying 'whoosing' sound.
