Simon Mullan walks through his exhibition ‘Spacers’ at Dittrich & Schlechtriem, his third solo show at the gallery. In this video, he speaks about the works on display and their significance in relation to his current studio space and its history, as well as his wider practice. The exhibition consists of a construction of 58 wall-mounted hand-carved stone crosses, specifically sized and spaced on the four walls of the room. The grids and the negative spaces they define are an enlarged representation of standard-issue bathroom tiles. Other works in the show include found objects from the site of the former Baustoffe Stolpe, as well as a video work.
