Simon Harris announces the government will extend temporary reductions in mineral oil tax on petrol and diesel from 31 August until 31 October 2026, preventing scheduled pump price rises next week and giving households and businesses breathing space. The VAT-inclusive reductions keep diesel reduced by 30 cent per litre and petrol by 25 cent per litre and carry an estimated Exchequer cost of approximately €407 million.
