"Similarity Scanner" – A Cinematic Fractal Journey
Immerse yourself in the infinite beauty of self-similarity with this mesmerizing fractal animation, rendered in Mandelbulb 3D and enhanced in Filmora for a striking cinematic aesthetic. The film unfolds as a single, continuous fractal sequence—beginning with a slow, meditative approach before accelerating into a breathtaking labyrinth of symmetric. An infinity of bulbs and countless Eiffel Tower-like structures, each varying in size and orientation, reveal the endless complexity of mathematical art.
This ride begins on an outer part of the structure and scans, step by step, cut by cut, all the shapes we pass through. This series is in reality a kind of animated plan of a mandelbox and boxfold hybrid, showing as well the exterior and the interior parts of the repeating selfsimilar structures. These cuts show how macroforms find themselves in microshapes, growing up to new macroshapes containing similar microcopies of themselves. The "scanner" allows to show what all these bulbs contain: a complete, highly organized universe, structured by using the universal rule of the main formula.
The accompanying soundtrack, "World Wide Web" (1997) by Arthur Stammet, is an acousmatic masterpiece that mirrors the fractal’s depth. Composed during the early days of the internet, the piece embodies the slow, evolving nature of digital connection—layering synthetic sounds in a gradual crescendo, punctuated by fleeting sonic fragments. Like the fractal, it is a world of pure abstraction, where even a coffee machine’s drops become part of the virtual soundscape.
