"The phrase 'don't read the comments' is about as effective as a chocolate firewall to the seasoned internet user, and continuously we are encouraged by social media buttons to wade in with our two cents on nearly every page we visit. Increasingly this is to the detriment of personal enjoyment, one of my friends recounted to me the horror she experienced at her grandfather’s reading of the derogatory and misogynistic things trolls wrote in response to one of her video-streamed DJ sets.
The hate extends beyond the performer too, with attacks on punter's dance moves (and lack thereof) being fired out from fingers on the keyboards of the laptops balanced on the bellies of the people who didn't make it to the party.
This video asks the question as to whether or not you can enjoy yourself in the same hedonistic way knowing your every move is being monitored and scrutinized by strangers, and with the feeling that your fleeting moment of embarrassment amongst strangers is now part of public internet history."
