Thanks to Lee Russell for his input on this one. Turns-out that the final approach to Heathrow Rwy 09 from an easterly track, is very short (only 3 miles), so the system can’t lock-on to the localiser. So I took a longer track to give me a ten mile run-in and set-up perfectly with the ILS.
