Silent Visions

Man with the megaphone, the tramp
The stone face, the it girl, the vamp
And the girl with the black helmet
Nitrate visions in black and white

Makeup highlights and enhances
Emotions with only a glance
Painting moods, defining moments
A face for every occasion

Director barks, the actors mime
Cranking to the movement in time
The unchained camera filming
Impossible shadows from light

Using hanging miniatures
With the effects of exposure
Distorting visions of perception
A mirage for the silent mind

Hanging on a thread from a plane
Hits the dust from a moving train
Smashes, crashes all a day’s work
For those men of stunts framing shots

Editors work, to shape and form
An artist with tasks to perform
Splicing and deleting actors
Leaving their framed tears on the floor

Frames flicker, the projector whirls
As a broad column of light swirls
Spreading out through a smoky haze
Displaying grainy images

Deco palaces shining bright
Sitting patiently with delight
Hush descends as music rises
Titles flash and escape begins

A tigress in black silk stockings
Eyes that entice, ever watching
With smiles etched in porcelain
For her silver screen desires

Capturing hearts, so debonair
Suave, about town, none do compare
The look, the walk, gals admire
With his Style he gets the girl

All dressed in period costumes
Deafening silence, speaks volumes
It is the language of silents
Forever spellbound in darkness
